I think that’s a real corker of a question.
I found myself asking what the Holy Ghost/Spirit was to my husband one morning. He said it was part of the Trinity. The Trinity is a belief that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are One. Each has a role to play. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
My husband did a quick search on Google to find out more and came up with some fragmented pieces of information. That left me feeling dissatisfied. So, I got thinking.
I am not religious. The Holy Spirit is talked about in a variety of religions. Nothing seemed to have the information I hungered for. What is it? What does it feel like? Has anyone experienced it?
I looked at my husband and had a ping moment. “Do you think the Holy Spirit is within all of us lying dormant? I have woken it up within me which is why I have such a profound spiritual connection to my inner circle?” He looked at me and nodded, his thinking provoked. “That sounds similar to what your mate would say” he claimed. ‘My Mate’ turned out to be his term for Meher Baba. My husband has always had his own unique way of storing information!
To me, we could describe Spiritual Awakening as accessing the Holy Spirit within us. This propels us into a Higher Consciousness which connects us to God and to Jesus. It is our truth. Therefore, there can be no room for false claims of awakenings as this would harm trust and belief in God.
Following my thinking, I re-read what Meher Baba wrote. He basically said that we all have access to a universal soul within us (God). We don’t access it as we are trapped, living in an illusion. We live with materialistic, physical and emotional desires. That is not our Truth. He describes it in His way in Chapter 4 of Discourses.
We have to experience an awakening for ourselves. It sounds like a fantasy or, delusional to hear who we truly are, from another. What I write about cannot do justice to what is happening to me. There are no words that can describe my feelings and knowledge. Even my book, “Wake Up Little Suzy”, which was softened for the reader, has eyebrows raising.
Knowing we all have a dormant Holy Spirit within us, waiting for us to wake it up, is exciting, precious and exhilarating to me. It unites us.
